Charity work.

It all starts with a simple idea that sparks a new journey. Perhaps you aspire to kickstart your own business venture or elevate a personal hobby to greater heights. It could even be a unique creative endeavor yearning to be unveiled to the global audience. Regardless of the inspiration behind your initiative, crafting a compelling online narrative holds the power to significantly impact your trajectory. Notably, the forthcoming endeavors are entirely pro bono, embodying a spirit of generosity and collaboration.

Design Process For Join Jane’s Journey

Understanding the Client

Join Jane’s Journey was a campaign created for a Raleigh woman who suffered an Intraventricular Brain Hemorrhage. The clients, three of Jane’s friends, wanted a logo that would accurately depict her as a person: a wife, mother of three young children, and an amazing friend. The clients understood that developing a quality logo would greatly impact their audience and define their campaign’s identity.

Getting to Know the Client

I met with one of Jane’s friends (a founding member of Join Jane’s Journey) and walked through the overall mission of the campaign, asking questions to better understand the vision. This is often referred to as the “discovery” process and a great way to pinpoint the client’s wants and needs. Oftentimes, I use this meeting to get to know the client on a personal and professional level — discussing image ideas, color schemes, and a broad range of logo options.

Preliminary Design

I created one primary image with different fonts and colors to incorporate the idea of a “mama bear.” The client was very specific about this detail of the logo, and I wanted to embrace that idea through a creative medium.

Finalization of the Logo

After further discussions with the client, we settled on a final design with minimal alterations. We introduced the idea of a QR code to help the general public access the Join Jane’s Journey Facebook page which also linked to the GoFundMe Page.

Taking It a Step Further

I worked closely with Join Jane’s Journey to develop additional images/designs to go along with the campaign. From a Facebook cover photo to a T-Shirt Design, the image was incorporated into the campaign seamlessly.

Final Thoughts

This campaign really hit home for me and the clients were amazing. I knew from the beginning that this would be a pro bono design project and was inspired by the dedication of these three friends.
